Attack in Toronto harbour

Marine traffic was banned in Toronto Harbour this afternoon after a marine officer was pulled from the water after a mysterious attack. "Our radio room picked up a high alert at approximately 1:00 pm," says Constable Tony Vella (at right) in an emergency press conference at Toronto Police Headquarters.

Police have imposed a lock down on the area which is six blocks from the Toronto Convention Centre, site of the G20 meetings which is running from June 26-27. The meetings have been halted until further notice.

Listen to the interview with Constable Vella here.

"We are conducting an onsite investigation in the waters south of the Marine Unit Headquarters (see map), and working to contain the high security risk so the meetings can resume," said Villa.

The Toronto Police is in charge of the majority of security for the Summit, but are being assisted by an Integrated Security Unit made up of the RCMP, the OPP, the Canadian Forces, Peel Regional Police and other law enforcement experts.

Pasting a map into my post

Now I want to try a different font.

It's time for a chart now from Swivel.com

Now I'm importing a chart on Canada's visible minorities from Swivel:

Let the learning begin!

This is my first post on blogger. I'm sitting in class at the Toronto Star.
